Mikkel is a focused lawyer whose clients range from companies to individual property owners.

Trained as a mechanical engineer, Mikkel works closely with a number of clients in the construction sector including large contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. His education gives him technical insight and often allows him to establish common ground with his clients. His work in construction law reaches from builders’ liens and arbitration to contract review.

He also enjoys a varied civil litigation practice. Advising clients in both the private and public sectors, Mikkel works on matters ranging from collection disputes to contractual drafting considerations. He also has a keen interest in property law disputes, stemming from his close ties to his own family farm in rural Alberta. Mikkel, who maintains family traditions on the farm to this day, especially enjoys assisting rural property owners navigate property-related disputes ranging from adverse possession to trespass.

Mikkel also has a small practice in the area of adult guardianship and trusteeship, and assists clients to navigate the process under the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act.

During law school, Mikkel was a summer student with Reynolds Mirth as well as a summer student with PCL Construction’s in-house legal department. He clerked with the Court of Appeal before completing his articles with Reynolds Mirth.
