Andrew’s practice focuses on labour and employment law, municipal law, defamation, and civil litigation.

Andrew represents both employers and employees in a variety of forums and disputes, including wrongful dismissal claims, restrictive covenant issues, human rights complaints, employment standards complaints, and unjust dismissal complaints under the Canadian Labour Code.

He advises employers on day-to-day human resources issues. He also reviews and drafts employment and independent contractor agreements as well as workplace policies.

Andrew is an active member of Reynolds Mirth’s municipal law team. In addition to advising municipalities on issues related to labour and employment, he provides advice on bylaw interpretation and other municipal enforcement issues and advises councils on issues such as disqualification, pecuniary interests, and council codes of conduct. Andrew also provides advice on matters related to the Local Authorities Elections Act and has conducted successful challenges to municipal elections in Alberta. His municipal work extends to issues relating to tendering and the application of Canadian free-trade agreements. He also regularly reviews and drafts agreements for a wide variety of applications for municipal clients.

Andrew also practices defamation law where he focuses on plaintiff-side defamation and works with both businesses and individuals. His work includes assisting clients to remove false and defamatory reviews, uncovering the identities of individuals who made anonymous defamatory posts online, and taking steps to halt or deter others from defaming clients. He also litigates defamation actions, particularly those involving the publication of defamatory material through online websites and social media platforms.

In his spare time, Andrew enjoys gourmet cooking and gardening.
